I'm Abibu Sheriff — a founder and technologist focused on building digital platforms that address real-world safety and emergency response challenges. My work sits at the intersection of AI, community engagement, and social impact.
Currently, I'm developing YouthGuard AI, an anonymous reporting platform designed to help schools respond to safety concerns earlier and more effectively. I'm also the architect behind OpenRelief, Jamaica's first national disaster reporting infrastructure.
My approach to technology is grounded in community-first design — working alongside the people these platforms serve to ensure they're accessible, practical, and genuinely useful.

From Lived Experience to Technical Leadership
My path into social-impact technology began with personal experience. As a young carer during a family health crisis, I saw firsthand how communities often lack the systems they need in critical moments.
That experience shaped my conviction that technology should serve people — particularly those who are most vulnerable. It's why I focus on platforms that make safety and support more accessible.
Before founding my current ventures, I established Debt Advice 4U CIC in the UK — a community interest company that delivered financial education to underserved families, supported by competitive institutional grant funding.

Building in Australia
I'm currently based in Melbourne, where I'm developing YouthGuard AI — an anonymous reporting platform designed to help Australian schools identify and respond to safety concerns more effectively.
The platform is being developed in consultation with educators and safeguarding professionals, with a pilot planned for Victorian schools. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to student safety while creating technology that can be adapted for other contexts.
